I also collected 7 other reviews from tech reviewers around the web about the Lenovo Legion 5 Pro Gen 7 (2022). Did you know they gave this laptop an average score of 8.8 out of 10.

Last year, the Legion 5 Pro was my favorite mid-tier all-purpose laptop of its generation. This year, the Intel-based Legion 5i Pro has big shoes to fill, and offers a significant boost in CPU performance, a slight bump in GPU and combined performance, and a cleaner redesign, while keeping the series’s other strong points, and at the same time not tackling its quirks. Are these changes enough to justify a higher price tag and shorter runtimes on battery vs. the 2021 models? Probably not, unless you truly need that powerful CPU for your workloads, and I’ll explain why in the detailed review down below.

THE GOOD

  • premium build quality and updated design, available in gray or white
  • good screen, inputs and IO
  • excellent performance across the board
  • majorly faster in CPU loads than the 2021 model, and a slight boost in GPU performance
  • serviceable and upgradeable, but difficult to open up
  • 80Wh battery, but not as efficient as the AMD models

THE BAD

  • full-size laptop with a bulky 300W charger
  • noisy fans and high GPU temperatures on the Performance profile
  • poor audio and camera quality, no biometrics
  • more expensive than the 2021 generations
